I’m not sure if any of you watched the VMA’s, but I happened upon them last night as flipped through channels. I didn’t watch much of it because it really wasn’t very entertaining. I don’t know where he came from, but their host this year, was this man:

Russell Brand – some British guy who describes himself as an androgynous man-child…whatever that means.
So today, at the gym, I was watching a recap on Headline News, and the big controversy was how Brand continually made fun of the Jonas Brothers for their stand on purity. (They wear purity rings and have made a vow to their parents that they will save themselves for marriage.)
I watched about 5 different clips where, throughout the night, he bashed them, over and over and over, making fun of their choice to stay pure for their brides. Why does the freedom of choice only apply to abortion by the way?? For a world that claims to be “tolerant” – this is a classic example that it is indeed – not.
So after numerous bashings, Jordin Sparks (18 years old) comes out to make a presentation and remarks, off the cuff, “I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut.”
WOO HOO – GO JORDIN!!
In an industry that relys heavily on sex to bring in the profit they do, I am so thankful for artists like these who (despite their youth) are willing to take a stand and be a David in a Goliath world.
